I read that both need to access the default web site through
http://<servername>, so I suspect a conflict.
There are other posts with the same question, but they concern CRM 1.2, not
CRM 3.0.
Thanks.

There is an option during the install and you can select to create a new
website for the Microsoft CRM 3.0 server.

So it's a bug in the documentation ?
Thanks.

The original question was about SharePoint Portal Server...I don't have
a link but I do recall reading that Microsoft says NOT to install Portal
Server on the same server as Exchange...something about them being based on
the same database engine?
Installing CRM on a server with Windows SharePoint Services works
fine...

The IG contradicts itself if I recall correctly. I believe it also says
to NOT install CRM onto the default web site, and NOT to install it on the
SharePoint site. For me CRM offered to install on http://<servername>:5555,
however, I was able to make it accessible via http://crm as well using a
host header (see KB article 909580).
One big issue is that the Small Business version of CRM gets to the
final customization phase and seems to hang forever if you haven't already
used setspn per the KB article. In reality it failed authentication
immediately but never returns an error to the user.
