Is anyone else experiencing problems after the v3.0 upgrade with users not
being able to close Opportunities or Activities? In order to fix this I have
to assign them a different role. If I try to create a new role that mimics
the role that doesn't work, it still doesn't work.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Amy

Hi Amy,
Are you creating a new role from the scratch? From another thread on this
newsgroup, the same problem got resolved by copying the existing role to a
new role (right click on the role and "Copy Role").

Please let me know if this works.

I am having problems with users being able to close Opportunities, but no
problems with Activities (so far).

I've tried everything I can find in the newsgroups from clearing caches to
creating new roles from scratch and I'm still unable to resolve.

If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it!

Hi DDT, please verify that the new role has "Create Activity", "Write
Opportunity" and "Read Quote" permissions.

Thanks Manisha! That fixed it.

We don't have Quote/Order/Invoice functionality set up yet, so I didn't have
any permissions set for Quotes. I'm confused why this would affect my users'
ability to close an Opportunity record, but I'm certain it makes sense to
someone.

Documentation on this would be very helpful!

Hi DDT,
When an opportunity is being closed, CRM also looks for any active quotes
related to that opportunity. If there are any active quotes, CRM won't let
you close the opportunity till the quotes are closed. Unfortunately it
doesn't have a way of knowing that there are NO Quotes what-so-ever in your
system. So it still tries to ask the system if there are any active quotes.
It does so using the current user's (who's trying to close the opportunity)
credentials. So the user needs to have "Read Quote" permissions :)
I know our Documentation team seriously looks at the documentation feedback
provided on the help content. If many people send requests wanting a
Technical Article on this, the team would prioritize creation of that
document accordingly. I'd encourage you to send the feedback by using
help-->Troubleshooting.

Hope this helps.

The security role management is very strange.
Could you explain me the following?
There is a privilidge that allows users to merge. But when I give this
priviledge to a user, he is able to see the merge button, but when he tries
to merge - the application tells him that he does not have a the appropriate
rights. Is this the way an application should work?
After few hours I figured out that I have to give him a right to read
marketing lists and then the user is able to merge. This is really sick,
because not all people work in marketing department.
I posted similar issue few weeks ago, but no reply from Microsoft.
