Hi Group,

Thanks a lot for the queries and responses posted, these are very
informative and has given me courage that I can share my problem and
expect some help from you.

I am using two systems for CRM, MS CRM Web vesion 4.0 and CWR CRM with
EveryWAN on the pda (HTC Touch3G). My requirement is to define access
on the field level on web version.

I have understood that the CWR CRM allows us to define field level
security which is not there in the web version of CRM (pls correct me
if I am wrong).

Is there any way I can define that a person can change only a few
fields on appointment form?

thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Prashant Chitkara

You can not have true field level security in CRM, but there are some things
which can get you part way there depending on how secure it has to be.

The simplest way is to use Javascript on load of the form to set field read
only base on a user. Have a look around the web and there are a few examples
of this. The Javascript can get quite long.
There may be ways for a user to get round this, but if it is only to make it
easy for them it will work.

This also will not work for security to stop them being able to see the
values, as they could always see the values in an advanced find, or exporting
to excel etc.

For true security at this level, you would have to put fields you want to
secure in a second entity and link it to the main one.

Hope this might help.
