Hello,

Right now our BizTalk server and databases all exist on the same server,
we want to move the BizTalk database only to a separate virtual server
environment, while the rest stays on the current server, is this advisable and
good practice? What do you recommend? Is there good documentation
out there that I can review? FYI we are using BizTalk 2004
Thanks for all your help with this!

Hi mj,

Basically the scenario is covered in below articles.

Backing Up Your Databases :
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms962212.aspx

Restoring BizTalk Databases to Alternate Computers
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms962245.aspx

However if your server is in AD environment, please note migrating biztalk
database to other domain isn't supported. The virtual server must be in the
current domain as well.

904356 Migrating BizTalk Server 2004, BizTalk Server 2006, or BizTalk
Server 2006 R2 from one domain to another domain is not supported

Thanks.

Sincerely,
