I'd like to create a batch file which will look in a directory (I:\ Live
Databases) for all files modified today. If a file was modified today, then
copy it to another directory (I:\Backup Databases) AND rename the file with
the modified date appended to the name.
For example, my file is I:\Live Databases\Draw Deficits.mbd. If I modified
it today, then I would want the copy to be I:\A Backup Databases\082508-Draw
Deficits.mdb. If the file was not modified today, then do not copy it. Can
someone please help me with this?

1. This is not a batch group.
2. Writing batch files is OS specific.
3. Help usually implies some effort on your part.
4. Date related renaming is a FAQ covered in batch groups.

On the bright side, there are groups specifically for batch file discussions
where several people are willing to write code with no effort on your part
(with exception of posting to the correct group). You may be reminded of the
FAQ aspect by some.

Here are some groups to help you, good luck.

alt.msdos.batch for MS-DOS/Win9x/ME
alt.msdos.batch.nt for NT/2K/XP

BTW, for those not aware, this group is intended for discussions regarding
the programming language BASIC for DOS, not basic (i.e., elementary) DOS
questions.

Thanks for your reply. However, I don't know where you're referring me to
go. I see no "batch" or FAQ groups on this discussion page.

Those Usenet groups are mirrored at:

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.msdos.batch/topics
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.msdos.batch.nt/topics

IF your ISP operates a news server and hasn't overreacted to concerns
over the content of a SMALL minority of binary alt. groups you may be
able to access those two text only groups with a news reading client
application like Outlook Express or Thunderbird (check your ISP's
subscriber support web pages).

On the Microsoft support forums batch files may be considered more
appropriate in the following discussion groups available through the
left pane of the Microsoft discussion Groups web interface:

microsoft.public.win3x_wfw_dos
microsoft.public.win2000.cmdprompt.admin

These too are accessible with news client applications. In the new
account dialog set the news server to msnews.microsoft.com port 119.

Try clicking on these...

news://alt.msdos.batch for MS-DOS/Win9x/ME
news://alt.msdos.batch.nt for NT/2K/XP

news://microsoft.public.win2000.cmdprompt.admin
news://microsoft.public.win3x_wfw_dos

Your "URLs" don't appear as links on the web interface, so clicking them has
no effect. I don't normally use the web interface, but came here to see if
the "links" would work in the web interface. Those reading this with
Microsoft's web interface will be able to use the left pane to access the two
Microsoft groups, it works just like the left pane in Windows Explorer (click
the plus sign to expand branches).

While they appear as links when I view your article in a news client, none
of them are making the news client access the groups. Perhaps that is because
they don't include a server name. Those with a news client may need to
configure the client application to access a server to read the "alt..."
groups with it. Also note that some ISPs discontinued support for "alt..."
groups on their servers recently.

Oops, I typed those with slashes by mistake.

Try clicking on these. Depending on which server you use, some may not be
available. As you already mentioned, there is access via Google.
