I have just installed my first 2008 SBS server and implemented it at the
customers site, having done lots of 2003 SBS servers and a few 2008 servers I
was not to worried but I have now got a couple of issues that I need
help/advice on.
The first one probably leads straight on to the second one, I tried to run
the connect to the internet wizard but because my server is not on a standard
192.188.1.0 network but on 192.9.19.0 instead I cannot run it, Is there a
workaround?
The second one is this on the server I have set it up to do DHCP and DNS
which on the server works perfectly but on the client PC's the DNS side does
not look to be working properley. I cannot access the internet and my log on
times on the XP clients are appalling with them sitting saying applying
personal settings or applying computer settings for 10 minutes or so.
As a work around I have had to set my DHCP server up so that it gives the
clients an external DNS server instead and then edited the host files on the
pc to add an entry for the SBS server so they can at least browse the net. I
have also noticed that my reverse look up zone on the server is not getting
populated.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Anthony
