(PPTP) VPN connections through ISA 2000...

SBS Administrator Console | Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 |
Servers and Arrays | <SBSservername> | (rt. click) Network Configuration |
Allow VPN Client Connections | Next | Finish

------------------
Configure RRAS to hand out dynamic IPs to the connecting VPN clients ...

Start | Setting | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Routing and Remote
Access | (rt. click) SBSservername (local) | IP tab | User the following
adapter: Select the Internal (LAN) NIC | OK | Close RRAS window
------------------

If you have a router, make sure you forward port 1723 and GRE Protocol 47 to
the external NIC in your SBS 2000 server. GRE Protocol 47 is sometimes
called "Enable VPN" or VPN Passthrough" in the router settings.

Hi,
The make is BT 2 Wire 2700HGV Model,

Also I am not sure about what IP address and how to set it up on external NIC.

Here's how to set up your SBS 2000 network... (2 NICS + router + dyanmic IP
address from your ISP)

The default address range for an SBS 2000 install for the internal NIC is
192.168.16.x. The router has a public (WAN) and a private (LAN) side. The
public side picks up an address from your ISP. The private side of your
router defaults to 192.168.1.254. So, your external NIC should be given a
static IP address in the 192.168.1.x range (something like 192.168.1.2) with
a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and a Gateway of 192.168.1.254 (the router IP
address). For the DNS entry on the external NIC, use the IP address of the
SBS server (which again is 192.168.16.2 by default).

For SBS 2000, follow the text below the diagram in the link below to make
sure your server is configured properly...

Two Nics, a dynamic IP address, ISA and a router
http://www.smallbizserver.net/Articles/tabid/266/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/74/Two-Nics-a-dynamic-IP-address-ISA-and-a-router.aspx

Then, the following link should show you how to set up your 2Wire router for
(PPTP) VPN...

Not sure since I don't use this make of router, but I believe when you set
up the Profile Name on the Edit Applications, you need to select the
"Application Type" at the bottom of that screen and specify "PPTP Virutal
Private Network Server". (at least it appears this way from a quick search
of the 2700HG manual). I suspect this sets up GRE Protocl 47 for the router
and tags it to your Profile Name.

You may need to map a share on the server to a drive letter on the remote
PC...

From your remote PC, can you use the "net use" command to map a share on the
server to a drive letter on the remote
PC? From a command prompt,:

net use s: \\serverip\sharename

If you need to use My Network Places to browse the computers on the SBS
network, you'll need to put the remote PC into a workgroup with the same
name as the SBS LAN and configure the remote PC with a primary DNS suffix so
that it can resolve unqualified internal network host names via DNS queries.
