I have noticed in my DHCP Address leases that there are many leases to a
unique called 'RAS". It is taking up around 10 leases at any given time.

There are no users that connect via VPN, although there are 4 that connect
via Terminal Services. Does anyone know why I am seeing so many RAS DHCP
leases?

Thanks
PM

Hi PM,

Default RRAS takes 10 leases. Is the SBS setup as a Terminal Server in
Application mode? Keep in mind that this is not possible on SBS 2003.

It is in Remote Admin mode. Would this be like this even if I don't use
RRAS?

I'm switching to Windows Server 2003 soon. Will this be an issue then?

Hi,

Those are not common users that us TS, right?

You must have setup RRAS, as it wouldn't take 10 leases if you hadn't. It is
not only for VPN, it can also be for dial up.

But it is normal for RRAS to take up 10 leases? I just wanted to make sure,
from a security standpoint, that it was OK.

If I use terminal services only, should I turn RRAS off?

Yes, that is normal.
If you are not using VPN or dial up to the server, you can turn off RRAS.

Uninstall RAS, Reinstall RAS, Reapply the Service Pack.
