Hello,

I cannot change passwords for any domain user in SBS "Active Directory Users
and Computers".

The steps are:

1. Start/Run
2. dsa.msc
3. Go to mydomain.local\MyBusiness\Users\SBSUsers
4. Right click on any user
5. Select "Reset password"
6. I enter the new password and click on OK
7. I get the error:

Active Directory
Windows cannot complete the password change for "username" because: A device
attached to the system is not functioning.

Same thing happens if I go through Server Management\Users.

dcdiag does not give any errors.

Does the SBS 2003 BPA show any problems with the SBS server?

Hi,

sorry for the late reply, been away from the office.

I run sfc /scannow, it completed successfully but no change in behaviour,
still cannot change any passwords.

Also today I setup a new computer, tried to join aour domain and got this
error:

"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain:

An internal error occurred"

So I also cannot join the domain with a freshly installed computer...

SBS 2003 BPA does not give any indication of anything that should be fixed.

Also still no errors in event log that could indicate what's in error.....

Very frustrating problem...

Have you set up the SBS server "manually" or did you use the wizards? Have
you changed any group policies or tweaked the SBS setup?
