Single Computer Installation: AOS errors

Hi!

I am trying to setup a single computer installation of Dynamics AX 4.0 on a
Window 7 (64-bit) machine. So far everything works well except when I try
and start the AOS. It keeps throwing event id 7024 (The Dynamics
Server$01-Local service terminated with service-specific error The
environment is incorrect..). I did get a message that I could only run a
component on Windows Server 2003 when installing and assumed this was the
AOS. However, I have seen others with single machine installations on
laptops. Any ideas how to get around this?

Hi Derek,

A common way to do a single computer installation is by using a Virtual
Machine. You would then install windows 2003 (or higher) in the virtual
machine, and after that do the single machine install, also in the virtual
machine.

This approach has never given me any problems so far.
