Disabled On-Hand Quantity for ITEMS...

Hi,

Is it possible to disable on-hand quantity tracking for an item setup with
an item type of ITEM? Basically, I want the same functionality for service
items.

Problem is, we want to use the purchasing system temporarily, so just
straight PO's without tracking quantity on-hand. However, in about 2-3 months
from now, we plan to start using the items for tracking inventory on hand,
and we want to keep the same item numbers. I couldn't find a way in AX to
change from a service item type to an actual item --- item type...... Which
is why I want to setup all items with an item - item type, but not track
on-hand quantity, and in three month, just turn on the functionality to track
quantity.

Hi Dmane

You need to set the items up as type Service and then use Functions/Change
item type to change them to Item, and presumably thyen do a stock take.

You cannot disable quantity tracking for items. You may try to write off
inventory onhand on the moment you decide to start quantity tracking. For
example, using counting journal.
