Hello we have a Server 2008 Environment.
Wie have 2 Domaincontrollers.
The Fileserver lost the 3rd time since 3 Month the connection to the Domain,
starting with Event ID 1030 The processing of Group Policy failed.
Followed by Event ID 5719, Netlogon, This computer was not able to set up a
secure session with a domain controller in domain ...
when i browse into Explorer and right click Properties, Security, only SIDs
are listet.
nslookup returns: no responce from Server, altough there are the correct
DNS- Ip-Adresses in the Network Adapter.
i am able to ping the Domain Controllers and connect to a share on them.
i can also make a connection with telnet, port 53 and 389
i can not ping the Domain Controller with ther FQDN, means for i have a DNS
Problem.
if i reboot the Server everything works fine, but only 1 month!

if tried ipconifg /flushdns,
if have done a ipconfig /registerdns: Event: 11167 failed to register host A
i have restartet the Netlogon Service and nothing changed.

i have no more ideas, can anyone help me??

Hello Burn,

Lets start to exclude DNS with posting an unedited ipconfig /all form the
problem server and your DC/DNS servers of the domain.

To register DNS records theb DHCP client service must be started and set
to automatic, even if fixed ip addresses are used, it is needed for DNS registration.

Hello Burn,

Thank you for updating. The ipconfig's look fine.

Check the following article about 2008 and network problems:

the Network Adapter Type is E1000 (VMWare ESX 3.5)
TCP Chimmney is disabled,
RSS is enabled,
we have done a reboot of the Server, so everythink works fine at the moment,
does it make sence to disable RSS to prevent future problems?

thank you

Hello Burn,

Nice oit hear that it works now. I would leave it this way until you see
again problems. Has the advantage that as much as possible is a default setup
of the server, just document the changes done for future use.

the problem apeared the last 3 times after about one month, so i don't think
that we solved the problem! is it possible that disabling RSS could be a
solution? we will disable it an see the result in a view weeks.
have you any other ideas?

Hello Burn,

Sory , misunderstand you. If problems still exist disable it and see if it
helps.

Best regards
