After opening Microsoft Access 2007 I use the Microsoft Office Button to
click on Open. At this point the screen flickers wildly. I can only stop it
by coming out of Access. So far I have done the following:
Run Office Diagnostics, which reports no issues.
Run all the other programs under Office 2007 Ultimate - no other program
shows this issue
Run all my other non-Microsoft programs - none show this issue.
I find it hard to believe it is a hardware issue, given it only occurs with
Access 2007, but for information:
Novatech Desktop PC with an Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Quad CP Q8300 @2.50 GHz
4.00 GB
32-bit Op System (Windows 7 Professional)
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
Monitor: Dell IN2010N (Analog)
I have played about with the resolution setting, but it makes no difference.
Any suggestions welcome!

Do you have any databases you can open by finding the database file and
double clicking that?
Does the database open?
Do you have any other versions of access on your computer?

That is really kind of you to check on the internet as well. I did have a
quick look, but like you nothing of any real relevance came up. I am only
just starting with Access so I have very few databases to check. What is
interesting is when I use the Office Button and go to the Recent Documents
section on the right hand side there is no problem when I open the only
database I have created, but as soon as I hit the Open button on the left
hand side the wild flickering begins. Asd you say it could well be a Windows
7 issue, but it is strange it does not happen with the other Office 2007
products.

This might be related to a bug reported upthread: copying Maurice's post on
the subject (thanks Maurice):
This is a bug and can be resolved by applying the following hotfix:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/973405?p=1
This is a hotfix by demand and should only be applied when applicable to a
certain situation. Don't install this on pc's where the functionality is
working correct.
This hotfix has to be downloaded and is packaged with a returnmail which
will supply the necessary password for unzipping the file.
