I have a custom ribbon bar that includes an old Access 97 menu in the "Add
Ins" tab, and enables the "Print Preview" tab. The Print Preview tab appears
when a report is previewed, but it is not the default tab. I would like to
be able to force the Print Preview to always be selected when a report is
previewed.
I cannot find any references that show me how to alter the selected tab of
the ribbon bar from VB - so how does one accomplish this task? (Using VB or
otherwise).
Here is my Ribbon Bar XML:
<customUI xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2006/01/customui">
<commands>
<command idMso="ApplicationOptionsDialog" enabled="true"/>
</commands>
<ribbon startFromScratch="true">
<tabs>
<tab idMso="TabAddIns" label="GSI" visible="true"/>
<tab idMso="TabPrintPreviewAccess" visible="true" />
</tabs>
</ribbon>
</customUI>
Thank You.

Simply setup and create a nice custom ribbon for all your repots. and, in
the reports property sheet (other tab), simply set the name of the ribbon
you want.
as a general rule, if you open the report in print preview mode, it should
just show the preview ribbon.
If you not, you can use the following custom ribbon of mine for all your
reports:

Could something the (circa Access 97) VB print preview code is doing be
changing the default tab from Print Preview to the Add Ins tab?

Ok, download the following:
Access 2007 hidden example:
http://www.members.shaw.ca/AlbertKallal/msaccess/DownLoad.htm
Actually the direct url is:
http://www.members.shaw.ca/AlbertKallal/msaccess/WordMerge07Hide.zip
In the above, you only see the ribbon when the report is run.....
So, you can have no ribbon showing at all, except when you are to preview a
report.

That is likely. I would test/try the above example with the hidden ribbon
except for when reports are shown.
Another nice work around is to have a ribbon, but have it minimized except
for a report in which you max the ribbon. I have an example of that kicking
around somewhere also (but, try the above first). So I would consider moving
(deleting) the old custom menu bars, and replacing them with ribbons.
However, the above hide might be enougth for you...
