to Michigan Python Users Group
I got back from Pycon 2012 a couple weeks ago and it was awesome to
meet so many people using Python. I use Python a lot at work, but I
rarely get a change to meet other people using the language. It would
be great to meet people around Detroit, so I searched and found this
group. Are there regular meetups or anything like that? Is there
organization around the michipugs group that is on the Python wiki?

Looking forward to any responses,

-Michael

Hey there Michael. There are regular meetings of the group. They're the
first Thurs of each month out in Ann Arbor.

I've actually been debating starting something more Detroit area since I
never make it out to Ann Arbor myself any more. I've been making due by
getting Python to take over my weekly CoffeeHouseCoders meeting. You're
welcome to come to those. They're every Wed night at the Caribou coffee at

31901 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak, MI

They're usually 8pm-10pm except for the last Wed of the month when we meet
an hour earlier at 7pm for an extra long hacking session.

Rick,

Thanks for the fast reply. I actually live in RO and work in Troy, so
the Caribou Coffee works just fine for me. I would like to make it out
to Ann Arbor for a couple meetups just to try it out, but a more
Detroit based group would be a great idea. I am not a Python expert,
but it is something that is starting to become an obsession for me. I
write a ton of Python scripts at work and I am always looking to meet
people in the community and learn new tricks.

Would it be cool if I came through to one of your meetup at Caribou,
maybe this week or next?

Awesome, welcome to the local Python scene. Definitely come out to a CHC.
It's completely open and just set up for discussing/hacking. Not everyone
is doing Python yet, but we're trying to convert everyone over. Just don't
look at the website at the moment. It's not up to date, so make sure to use
the address/caribou in the email. We'll look to update the app engine side
of things at the meeting tomorrow night.

Tomorrow is the early edition at 7pm. Next week we'll be at the usual bat
time of 8pm.

Feel free to ping me if you run into any questions/issues.

Definitely get out to this Ann Arbor group if you can. It's a great group
and I always enjoy the post-meeting dinner conversations.

Rick
