I wanted to float this idea by you and see if we have enough enthusiasm to
send a bus to PyCon from our region. For instance, a bus could leave
Detroit and scoop up folks in Toledo and Dayton then Cincinnati, and maybe a

I am very sorry that I missed the meeting as we're using RabbitMQ+json
for a bunch of stuff, and I'd like to look at a format like Thrift or
BSON that has faster serialization/de-serialization and can provide an
even lower latency multi-language accessible remote protocol.

And of course I think async programming ala twisted is going to do

Here's what networking awesomeness I'd like to talk about:

- Using Twisted's inline deferred callbacks to write very short, very
powerful network code (like load testers and web scrapers)

- Using Thrift + Rabbit to easily add a service-oriented architecture
to an existing mixed language/mix component system.

Hi Adam,

Welcome! Yeah, I don't think it's wholly obvious.

The group meets on the first Thursday of each month, at 7pm. The topics vary
wildly among everything going on in Python.

Actually, we haven't had many Django talks. Hearing about Pinax one of these
months would be cool :)

This is very cool. After taking a bit more of a look at what Resque does, we
dropped the idea entirely. It had nice features along certain axes, but
along others was not so good.
Celery actually looks quite good. We were talking about how
