I am new to the MI Python Users Group. Sorry I missed the meeting tonight. I did not see the announcement until just now.

I have just started learning Python over the Christmas break and hope to eventually become proficient enough to use the Natural Language Toolkit (NLTK) for my research. I have a background in systemic functional linguistics and second language learning. My research involves the analysis of oral discourse for pragmatic meaning and corresponding lexicogrammar.

Programming is completely new to me. So far I find it very interesting but very time consuming. I am learning from Lambert's Fundamentals of Python and using other books as a reference when I get stuck.

Weather permitting, I will attend the next meeting in February.

Mike
