from the new user deciding to try Mezzanine instead of waiting for some
decent CMS/blog to appear within Web2py arena..well, not just to
appear, but have some community around it, nicely documented etc.
One thing which I 'miss' in Mezzanine is that the mailing list is not
subscribed to Gmane mail <---> news interface and I must admit it is
the one of the exceptions (there is only one list where the maintainer
does not want it).
For me. Gmane offers ability that people even without Google account
can subscribe by replying to Gmane authorization message (which uses
TMDA mechanism, iirc).
Moreover, address used for posting is in the form like:
Then, there is no need to create/write filtering rules to prevent one's
INBOX becoming cluttered, there is automatic archive available within
one's mailer/nntp reader ready for searching (we use Claws-mail with
nntp plugin).
I did chat a bit with Stephen in #mezzanine, but would like to hear if
there is some interest and/or opposition for this idea?
Let me say, that it makes easier to new users to join/post to the list,
it does not create spam and those preferring to use Google group
interface will not see any change.
As far as list maintainer is concerned, the only thing required is to
subscribe gmane-address to the list and create option 'posting allowed'
so that Gmane subscribers do not need to subscribe to the list.
Sincerely,
Gour

I still do not get the group listed in my reader although it's
listed on gmane site...let's wait a bit...
