is Arch up for using metalinks for ISOs again if we create them?

metalink-library can be used to automate metalink creation. it can
also create torrents.

an Arch developer replied:

Sure.
Torrents are easier for us (the devs) to create, but if the community
wants to create (and test) metalinks for us, I don't see why we
couldn't put the resultant files up somewhere.

it'd be nice if Arch was using metalinks again.

does anyone have time to make some?

http://www.archlinux.org/download/

curiously, 2007.08-2 is the latest version for torrent downloads but I
can't find it on the mirrors.

they do have 4 ISOs for each 2007.08 and 2008.03 release

The auto-metalinking system from metamirrors.nl could be used. Do they
want to host the metalinks themselves? I could also create a list of
mirrors in the metalink commandline client format and write a small
spider to do the metalinking.

Any other ideas around? Anybody who has "just did it already"?

I think they want to host the metalinks themselves.

I submitted the md5sums to metamirrors.nl w/ your cool Firefox extension.
