Metalink and Google Summer of Code 2008

Metalink didn't officially get sponsored for GSoC but we've got a list
of almost 20 ideas for potential new developers, so check it out. If
any of our corporate users would like to sponsor a Metalink Summer of
Code, let us know. Since Metalink deals with downloading, and that
affects just about everything, Metalink might fit in with some of the
other projects like Mozilla, GNOME, KDE, openSUSE, Fedora, Drupal, or
Apache.

Celerity 0.0.1 (Downloading Library) Preview Released!

Lead developer Aren Olsen updates us on Celerity (Python):

It is now my great pleasure to present to you the
first preview release of Celerity! Celerity is the downloading library
I have written for Celerius. It can currently handle http and ftp
urls, and also supports segmented downloading. Celerity also comes
with a simple wget-like downloading client for immediate use. Note
that this a preview release: it is intended for development purposes
only and should not be considered ready for general use. You may
download this preview release from our downloads page:

KGet 2 in KDE 4.0.2 update

KDE4 continues to improve, and KGet along with it. Work continues on
the road to KDE 4.1 as well.
