Greetings,

I need help with what I am sure is a very stupid user question. I have a basic GANTT chart that I created over a year ago. The project got delayed and now I am reviving the project. I want to change the start date and then have everything else trickle down. To do this I click on the top line and change the 'start date'. (I followed the instructions here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9oNW7XGBNo). But it doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong? How can I change the one date and get everything to trickle down?

Thanks!

Eric

Are there started tasks in the project?
For the complete project to follow the new start date, you need to clear existing actuals.
So click the top most row and call Edit > Clear Actual Values

Thanks Vicky. I tried that yet it didn't work. I enter the new start date and then my very first row turns red though the date does not change to what I entered. None of the other dates change.

I have attached my project plan in case it helps and anyone is willing to look. I appreciate the help - I am sure it is something dumb I am doing!

Yes I see.
So click the top most row,
Edit > Clear Actual Values
Check planned start dates on row 1, they are set with earliest and latest start on Jan 31st 2011. So you can plan your project to start on other dates, but the works on this group will always start on Jan 31st 2011
Remove both date constrains, or just the latest start date by a click onto it (x)
Define a new project start, for example today
See your project starting today and your tasks scheduled accordingly.

Check also the icons in the "info" column. You maybe want to remove a start dates pointing to 2007.

Best regards, Vicky
