Subject: mephisto + community engine?
I'm interested in building a site similar to WPMU + Buddypress but w/
Rails.  I understand Mephisto can be set up in a multi-site
configuration but as anyone plugged in Community Engine w/ Mephisto as
well?  Is Mephisto the right platform for me to go with?  Does anyone
have a live multi-site implementation they can point me to so I can
get a sense for what's possible?

Really appreciate any and all response in advance.

Mephisto mulit-site serves multiple single sites from one application
instance.   It is good for running several blogs from one server/vps,
but doesn't have the community features(groups, user blogs, newsfeeds)
that buddy press has. It would probably be easier to add content
managment to a social networking app.  You might want to take a look
at Loved by Less(http://lovdbyless.com/).

I hope this helps.

Thanks Bryan - I don't believe lovedbyless can support a multi-site
configuration where anyone can create their own social network/blog.
Does Mephisto's multi-site configuration function as a blog host where
anyone can create their own blog through it?

Thanks,
Fima

Thanks Bryan, I'm not clear if lovd supports a multi-domain/site
configuration i.e. user1.domain.com, user2.domain.com etc. What about
using Tog for the social networking features but Mephisto as the
core?  Any other suggestions?

Thanks again.
