MFA Meeting Sunday

Hi y'all - I wonder if anyone wants to join us on Sunday? Here is the
story: last week I had lunch at McAlister's Deli on Poplar Plaza near
the library. I did notice a few references to God amongst the
artifacts lining the walls, but thought little of it. As I was
leaving, I noticed a huge display of Christian Magazines to pick up
near the door. This aroused my curiosity, so I inspected the place
more thoroughly, On the door is a notice which advertises a 10%
discount on Wednesday evenings and Sundays to those carrying a Church
Bulletin. This clearly promotes the Christian religion as there is no
mention of Church/Mosque/Synagogue Bulletins on Fridays or Saturdays.
There is certainly no mention of an MFA Bulletin!
I propose to order lunch at this establishment before the MFA meeting
on Sunday and demand my 10% discount. If refused, I shall accuse them
of religious discrimination. Anyone coming? The more, the merrier!

Certainly a privately owned business has the right to promote a
personal cause? The charge of discrimination here seems about on par
with those who try to ban ladies nights at bars on the grounds of
sexual discrimination. If a private business owner wants to use a
gimmick to bring in more customers, I'd hardly call that
discrimination in any significant way, even if it's only targeting a
single group.

Hi y'all - I have it on the best authority (Edwin Kagan the American
Atheist's national attorney) that discrimination (offering or denying
a benefit) by a business in Tennessee on the grounds of religion, sex
or race is unlawful. If you wish to argue with him, he'll meet you at
the bar.
Suppose the restaurant offered a discount to whites only? Think about
it!!

What is your religion? As an atheist, are you claiming that an
atheist stand is a religious stand? Please clearify...and try to keep
it in the first person.

We should just present them with our MFA meeting bulletins and ask if
we can also get the special treatment given to Christians. If they
refuse to grant a discount, then we should refuse to spend our money
there. The walk to El Porton won't be far. We can even repeat this
after each meeting to see when they make it into the 21st Century.

Hi y'all - I can't keep it in the first person as I have to refer to
"them."
"They" are discriminating against other religions by choosing a
particular religion for their favors ie. Wednesday evening and Sunday
Church bulletins which can only be interpreted as Christian. There is
no mention of the Jewish Sabbath or the Muslim Sabbath, therefore I
conclude that these religions are being discriminated against. They
are also discriminating against those of no religion - me. This is
religious discrimination because they choose religion over no
religion.
I'll be there at 12noon on Sunday for lunch.

Hi y'all - I agree. We should have camera and recording equipment. If
there is evidence of discrimination, I shall take it to American
Atheists for an assessment and I WILL pursue it.

Back from out-of-town. McAllister's has always had a Christian bent as well
as Chick Fila. Chick Fila is less obvious, but they sponsor Christian
groups corporately. The easiest thing to do is to boycott of course, but I
think it would be discriminatory for them to give discounts to one group
based on beliefs or church attendance. Yes, it would be a good opportunity
to get some publicity.

Hi y'all - I should have reported earlier - they gave us all the
discount! Treated us well and good food too!
I refuse to enter the parking lot of Chick Fil-A - same goes for Hobby
Lobby and Inn-N-out Burger.

I was there too. McAlisters gave us the discount without batting an
eye. Clogtowner had on his military gear on and even cleaned & oiled
his machine gun; however, he didn't get a chance to unload the lead
storm upon the unsuspecting teenager taking his order (metaphorical
story of course). Everyone was very nice and the hot waitresses
helped too.
