MFA Book Club:

We will be discussing the following article for MFA  Book Club at Newk's Cafe Express at 2200 Germantown Parkway, Cordova, TN.  The discussion will start at 5 pm on Saturday (11/7/09).

Middle East Expert Will Discuss "Political Islam" at Sesquicentennial Lecture Nov. 9 by Dr. James L. Gelvin:

Middle East expert Dr. James L. Gelvin will give the annual Sesquicentennial Lecture at the University of Memphis Monday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Fogelman Executive Center, Room 136. He will discuss “The Global War on What, Exactly? Making Sense of Political Islam.”

A 6 p.m. reception and book-signing will precede the lecture.



The event is free and open to the public.


Gelvin is a professor of modern Middle East history at UCLA. He is a specialist on the Arab-Israeli conflict, terrorism and political Islam.
