Hi y'all - I think that the "lectures" you refer to are unlikely
contribute to the low scores mentioned. Those who normally attend, and
accept the truth of these lectures, are incapable of scoring at all
IMHO.

We can never know the full mix of motives and causes including depression,
death of his father, being picked on, etc., but I think that I think there
is a part of the modern Islam that contains a meme bent on self-immolation

Can this explain some of the low scores in science/math/social studies in Memphis? Ken Ham will denounce physic, geology, biology & astronomy as legitimate forms of knowledge. Then claim that church (not the social sciences) are the true path to social reform. Next, Mr. Ham will advocate instead of embracing these fairytale disciplines such as physics to accept a more solid foundation of knowledge based on the Holy Bible (God's knowledge instead of Man's knowledge). The Memphians in the church will shout "Amen" when he does this sermon against the sciences.
