MFA Book Club for 11/21/09

MFA Book Club:

For MFA Book Club tomorrow, we can just discuss this brief survey (see attachment). 

Also, we need to decide on our next book and find a place to watch & discuss a movie.  We may just meet at Newk's a few hours earlier because the room is reserved for 5:30 pm by another group for a few months. 

Three books that we may consider:

• Anti-Intellectualism in American Life by Richard Hofstadter
• The American Political Tradition also by Richard Hofstadter
• The Metaphysical Club by Louis Menand
  

These three books put American ideas under a microscope and often within a historical context.  Their views are different from the way that many American's view their own culture.

Location:          Newk's Cafe Express at 2200 Germantown Parkway, Cordova, TN
Time/Date:       Saturday, 11/21/09 at 5 pm
