Hi y'all - I'd like y'all to know what a wonderful non event Christmas was for us this year. The best yet! We stayed at a hotel in Miami Beach which had only one bucket of candy on the front desk and NO other decorations inside or out. No Christmas tree, Pagan tree or anything that vaguely looked that way. We spent part of Christmas day on the beach and the rest shopping. All stores except the Lincoln Mall and Publix grocery stores were open. We had a nice lunch and a great dinner at different restaurants. To my knowledge no restaurants were closed. The city treated Christmas Day as any other day with even parking meters in operation - I just love those parking meters on Christmas Day!
Suffice it to say that this is now the best place I know of in the US to get away from Christmas, and I'm planning to ensure that I'm there every year from now on. The casinos have lost a good customer.
