Anyone here had/having a bet on the Coleman or Brownlow?
Me being a Richmond supporter, in May, I put $20 on jack Reiwoldt at
20/1 for the Coleman (he's now 5/1) and the ripper is I put $20 win at
40/1 and $10 place @10/1 on Trent Cotchin for the Brownlow, who is now
3/1 second favorite :)

If Cotch gets up, i'll get a $1000 for a $30 outlay!!!!

Go Cotch!! :)

Yeah, I know... but what a bet! 40/1 and he wins? Woo hoo!!!

I'll slap a couple of green ones down for some grog at Mart's puel
party... you know, the one he hasn't actually agreed to yet..:)

Actually, I have a bit of a session lined up for the Cup Day weekend....
I've got a mate who has commandeered a decent sized spit roaster, so
were gunna do a whole lamb on the spit, and hopefully a keg for all the
guys who helped me when the shed and dunny and everything else was built
on my bush-block. Should be a good little piss-up :) There wont be too
much sleep on the saturday nite :)

It's a Fairest & Best award, remember. Fair players don't insist on

Not ALL.. some tea sipping crossant eating inner city wannabe's wern't too
happy about me speaking about regional Victoria; you know, all they wanted
to hear was their tram timetables, and where they could get a dodgy dim
sim...

Should be a good blast (pardon the pun)...We'll have the Aust "C" grade
champ in a shootoff with a B grade shooter, I've just shot and killed $300
worth of wild dogs ( ok thats a bit missleading, I was lucky enough to shoot
6 wild dog pups (I'll bet the adults were wild!) with 6 rounds, before they
grew into a pack of adult wild dogs.) I feel like John Wayne after the
Alamo :)
I havent shot so good since I was 18 years old. Pics to come.... (tonight or
tommorow nite...)

Current bounty on wild dogs regardless of age(afaik) is $50.00 each, hence
$300.

It's a shame that you're having to do that. As a dog lover (we have two JRTs) it
makes us angry that negligent owners allow their dogs to escape like that, or
worse - they dump them up the bush because they're too lazy deal with them more
humanely.

What breeds are you seeing out there?

What, Lindsay, did Cotchin play a starring game for the seconds one week
as well as the 22 games that the seniors played (even if the 22 were
spread over 23 weeks)??

I must admit, when I yelled at one to make it prop before it got back to
the scrub, i had a twinge of sorrow (i guess) coz a couple of them
seemed quite cute. Then I remembered what they are capable of one out,
let alone in a pack. And a pack is the LAST think i want on my joint.

As a shooter, I think hunting with dogs should be banned full stop.

> What breeds are you seeing out there?

The one that started it all was seen 2 months ago casing down some
'roos. It was huge, easily the biggest dog i've ever seen. Only way to
describe it is I thought it looked like a small tiger, and it ran with
the same gait.

A month ago, it scared the bejesus outa me... i was eating mt dinner,
and this thing howled at the full moon, not more than 300 metres away
from me. I thought I was on a horror film movie set. As I was by myself,
i thought it prudent to stay where I was, I just made sure the shotty
was close and handy. Did 50 klms on the quad bike the next day looking
for it, with no luck.

Anyway, there's this smell coming from the otherside of the fence, so I
go over and discoverthere are 3 dead roos spread out over around 500
metres. and one of 'em had a set of brown ears sticking above the
carcass. Fox I thought. went back and got Betsy, my trusty .223, went
back and this guy was trotting away back towards the scrub.

This one I immediatly thought had some Shepard in it. Then later in the
afternoon, i got some more of the litter.

#2 looked a bit dingoish to me..

and then another (this pic is a bit gruesome...)

The one at the botton (#3) has a foxish head

And later in the evening just before sunset

Got the last 2 on Monday morning

I spoke to the local Dept of Primary Industries dog man, and lo and
behold, he shot a huge bitch, full of milk, 3 weeks ago in a pine
plantation very close to my place, so we think these guys have been
without their mother and were surviving on roo meat. Apparently there's
going to be a concerted effort to 1080 bait a large area, including my
place, which I have agreed to.

I dont like or want wild dogs around the place when my son is riding his
quad. We actually banned him from riding alone until now.

If you listen to the Coaches, etc, the game is played at such a pace,
now-a-days, that they all want bye's, so I reckon what the AFL should do
is get rid of the pre-season comp (all the teams play other pracky
matches anyway!), and have the 22 rounds over 25 weeks, with split
rounds at about rounds 5, 10 and 15.

On the split rounds, they could have six home and away games on the
first week-end and three home and away games with an interstate game
with these players drawn from the teams that played on the first week on
the second week-end.

Just my thought!!

Yeah, I was probably a bit fast there. They should ban hunting deer with
dogs. Or introduce some penalty system so if your dog is caught,
or shot running wild and free, the owner will be penalised heavily.
But that would mean mandatory mircochipping, which will never happen...

Yum. Sounds like a lot of fun, and no-ones getting hurt, cept the
rabbits. Last time I saw rabbits for sale they were $24.00 each at Southland
I've got a few running around my place, but we tend to let 'em grow up a
bit, and just before we knock a few off, the Calesievirus knocks 'em off
around January. :(

I'd just be happy with every team playing everyother team once, ala
hardwicks plan of 17 rounds.

In my version, the eighteen teams would be split up into three groups of
six and each team would play the other five teams twice (shock, horror,
home and away matches!!) and the other twelve teams once.

And the groups of six *would* *not* be top six, middle six and bottom
six, but, rather, something like 1, 4, 7, 12, 15 & 18th teams in one
group, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14 and 17th teams in the second group and 3, 6, 9,
10, 13 and 16th teams in the third group.

To get a spread of good, so-so and weaker teams in each group!

And for the round that includes the now "Traditional" ANZAC Day match
between Collingwood and Essendon, the other matches would be West Coast
v Freoo, Adelaide v Port, Brisbane v Gold Coast, Sydney v Greater
Western Sydney, Geelong v Footscray (sorry Western!!), Carlton v North,
St Kilda v Hawthorn and *the* *battle* *of* *the *"G"*, Richmond v
Melbourne!! All "local" battles!!

But the likelihood of anything like that happening?????

I'm not a deer shooter, hell, I'm not much of a shooter full stop.
But when I read that a sheep farmer in Corryong(sp?) has had 2000
sheep (not 200, 2000!) sheep (not lambs, sheep!) destroyed by
wild dogs that live in the Alpine National Park which abutts to her
property, well, I suddenly lose all praise for the Dept of primary industry
or whatever they are called this week.

And we hear nothing from the likes of Stevo, melb.generals very own Greens
voter.
The silence is deafening from him and his latte sipping wannabe mates...
No yelling that the bounty on feral animals should be quadripled, no
apologising that reasonable shooters should be allowed access to class c
firearms,
no allowing licenced shooters into the Alpine National Park to do the DPI's
job,
no support or thanks for doing the govts job in other parks, no nothing.

No suprise. They will now have to find another hook to hang their
handbag from, as the Greens vote has dropped from 14% to 8%,
and is going south at a rapid rate.

As I said a while ago, say bye bye to the Greens, just like we said bye bye
to the Democraps. Seems like we've all had a taste of their policy, and
spat it out. Shame that Juliar has ruined the country in the process of
being the red headed harridan she is.

End of rant. Sorry :)

Whilst it looks good on paper, it's $$$$$ thats drives the AFL, and
thats why they do the draw the way they do. To maximise income.

for anyone interested, here's the parents....

The top one is the one I described below, the middle one would have to
be the dad, and the last one was the mum.

Bounty on wild dogs is now $100. it's still not enough.
