what makes bloggers blog?

this is just the sort of self-referential blogging question that can
quickly make the rounds of the blogosphere.
and rightfully so.
because when someone attempts to answer the question...
voila!

anyway, what is it about bloggers that differs from the general
population?
it reminds me of that question about what makes rich people different
than everyone else.
they have more money.
duh.
...
but seriously, there ARE actual differences between bloggers and non-
bloggers.
for instance, i personally know many people who could NEVER be
bloggers.
they just don't have it in them to blog.
it's not just a technical cluelessness about the mechanics of blogging
(which really couldn't be much easier if someone did the whole
blogging thing for you).
nope.
it goes far beyond the mechanics of blogging.
non-bloggers just don't have anything that they want to blog about.
it's really as simple as that, i think.
because, on the whole, non-bloggers are probably much happier than
bloggers.
(though it's highly doubtful that the sense of humor of non-bloggers
is anywhere near as highly developed as bloggers)
so the question is, would you trade your sense of humor for more
happiness?
it's a tough decision.
sadly.
