Access to discussions (create and reply) from the API is the most requested feature by current users of my app.  It would be a great addition to the Meetup API.

Is this possible or are the platforms completely different?

Thanks for the interest guys. 

API features are generally driven by demand and there hasn't been a lot of demand for posting to the discussion boards in the past. 

It sounds like this would be useful to you so I'll open a ticket for it.

It's in our feature queue but has not been actively worked on yet. We will post to this list when its live.

Demand drives priority so hearing there's interest definitely bumps it up. I'll keep this in mind. 

On an aside, event communication on Meetup has changed a lot this year with threaded comment support and pulling more communication like rsvp comments into the event feed. Communication between members within a group context is also likely to change this year so the API will need to be inline with those changes. I can expose support for the way members currently communicate through the boards but be mindful this could change at some point with in the year.

 Thanks for the quick response ! Our use-case is for posting content to a meetup that would be visible to all meet up members. Would the API allow this or would be allow for only communicating directly with Group members ? Would be great if you could share details on the API.

  1. Posting to individual forums within a Meetup Discussion board.

  2. How would posting work for Meetup discussions board without forums ?

It's in the API pipeline but not currently in high demand. I have opened a ticket for the request. I'll announce it on the list when it goes live.
