Thanks for sharing this Ahmed!

Can you give a bit of context as to why this article is important or why you think it deserves translating.  That would really help draw translators' attention to taking on this work.

By the way - a few people on Twitter (@Kawdess, @mikewhills) have been asking for a translation of this in Assafir by Maysa Aoud:

http://assafir.com/Article.aspx?EditionId=1357&articleId=668&ChannelId=31412&Author=%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%8A%D8%B3%D8%A9%20%D8%B9%D9%88%D8%A7%D8%AF

The article looks at the media war of attrition going on between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Best,
George

The article looks at the recent debate/war that followed the opening
of KAUST. The result of this war was sacking a senior cleric from the
official religious establishment who made some comments about the
university.

Great - let's see what we can do.

I've also worked with Ghaydaa to collate some interesting Palestinian op-ed pieces on the Goldstone report delay.  Be great to get some translations of these opinion pieces.

Have a look in this event: http://beta.meedan.net/index.php?page=events&post_id=284352

AFP reports that the Security Council will now discuss the Goldstone report next week after a Libyan request, backed by Arab, Islamic and nonaligned countries, for "an emergency meeting" to consider it. The UN Human Rights Council vote on the report though is still only set for March.

I've had some interest from translators on this article so I've added it to Meedan.  As a general note, you can always find a relevant event using Meedan's search tool, and paste your article into it - even if the event was created some time ago.  We aim to keep events evolving, and to use the transbrowser as a tool for sharing our translations whilst retaining the work in an open source TM.

SO, this is the link: http://198.145.243.38/tb/?mid=149&name=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.menber-alhewar1.info%2Fnews.php%3Faction%3Dview%26id%3D4951&svcid=ar-ar_en-us

But to edit it you'll have to log in to meedan and go here:

http://beta.meedan.net/index.php?page=events&post_id=284210#post-284427

This is the event I've posted the article into:

Saudi Arabia: Senior cleric fired for criticizing mixed gender university

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has fired one of the country's senior religious clerics over comments he made about the newly opened, co-educational technology university which bears the King's name and is located outside of Jeddah.

According to reports, Saad el Shethry was sacked after describing mixed gender education as evil and a great sin, and suggested the education at KAUST, the new $7 billion research facility, should be supervised by religious scholars to monitor what violates the Sharia.

Interesting times indeed for the Kingdom.

Best wishes!
George

Is tonight OK?  I've almost finished it - just one paragraph to go and a few points to check.  But I'm at work all day today so will finish it tonight when I get home.  Is that OK?
