Hi Sergey,

for my wiki over at www.antiquejewelryuniversity.org I'm looking for a
way to include a jquery gallery as produced by Jack Anderson at
http://spaceforaname.com/galleryview. It seems to be possible, www.openei.org
has one up using this widget: http://en.openei.org/w/index.php?title=Widget:MainPageGallery&action=edit.
But I can't get it to work.

Would you have any idea how the folks at openei.org have pulled it
off?

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Looks like they also posted library code to /w/skins/openei/js/jquery/jquery-galleryview-1.1/* folder in their install.

It looks like they also have jquery and jquery-ui code in their theme which makes it possible to use this widget.

Thanks for your quick response,
Are saying they adapted the javascript provided by Jack? Did they have
to add any php somewhere or will that java and html work in a widget
as it is using the widget extension? I like the idea of being able to
give my users the option to click through a gallery like that, which
is what distinguishes it from the slideshow widget. I've got
galleryview 2.1, jquery and all those jquery plugins installed but I
seem to be missing somewhere somehow: there is no way I can it to
work.

Thanks,

Tim

I'm not sure about it - need more digging in to do. Can you invite them to describe how they did it - they can do that right here on the mailing list.

I figured out how to get the galleryview to work as a MW widget. The trick
was in including all CSS into the widget rather than referring to an
external style sheet.

Here's a short how to:

First you will need to install a package of javascript into your MW folder
on your server. This package is downloadable here

After you have copied that whole (unzipped) folder into your mediawiki
folder you can copy the source code of the widget here<http://www.langantiques.com/university/index.php?title=Widget:MainPag...>,
paste it into a new widget page in your wiki (call it Widget:MainPageGallery)
and replace all my /university/... links with your own. The whole thing is
customizable, find out how here <http://spaceforaname.com/galleryview>.

That's it...

The best 2011!
