Anything in our notes, or in the text is fair game. Spend the most time on topics you have been told to study.

A) look at the fov equation . Solve for the missing variable.
B) for your specimen estimate how many might fit in the fov, divide by that #. The answer gives you an estimate of the size if the specimen.
C) by tracking how mitochondrial DNA has changed we have an estimate of where and when our common ancestor was.

Ms. Thomas I know the equation but is there a way to find the answer without knowing the low objective lens mag since the FOv is on

You need to have enough info in order to solve the equation. We usually measure the fov on low, we can calculate the magnifications. Then we just solve for the fov on the higher powers.

Are the common polyatomic ions going to be on the test we are doing tomorrow? Thanks

What exactly do we have to do for the chemistry project, do we just type up answers to the research questions?

And how many topics do we have to choose? It says pick any of the following 2 topics, then it lists eight.

Yes there are 8 topics. Do the research on any 2, your choice. Turn the facts you find into an artistic creation (e.g. Children's story, song or poem) or anything else that is not just cut and paste of information. I expect to see a bit more information than the basic research questions.

Say if you write a poem for the chem project, do you just print it out plainly, do we have to decorate it or record it or?

If you feel there is enough information in your poem by itself, then hand it in without embellishments.  I have received many excellent projects over the years that did not have any pictures.

On the practice test there were some things I was confused about...

1) (what are stem cells?) The name of stem cells that can become only a limited range of other cells?
2) Will we have to label diagrams on the test? What is the format?
3) Describe one difference and one similarity between the human digestive system and the fish digestive system (I don't have any notes on that)
4) Embryonic stem cells?
5)Difference of mitosis in animal and plant cells

Stem cells can specialize into any kind of cell. They are found in plants and animals. Embryonic stem cells are in embryos. We are not doing the fish this year. Review the text for the level of detail you need about stem cells. You might have diagrams, look at the diagrams in your notes and text as a guide. Plant cells build a cell plate that turns into a cell wall during mitosis

Hi ms Thomas,
Can u please tell me whether or not we will have to label a diagram of the anatomy of the eye on the exam?

Know how the eye works and how to correct common eye problems with lenses.  If you know the parts of the eye that may  be helpful.
