Hi all,

I'm quite new to Maxent but have successfully created maps with the
programme. However, the maps that are produced have a thick black line
running though the middle, which also makes some of my points go
missing (I have two sets of data, one works fine as the line doesn't
run through any of them). the line splits my map right in half, its
thicker at the sides of the map going thinner in the middle and I
can't figure out why its doing it!
when I open the ASCII files in ArcCatalog they display with the line
in too!

If any one knows any reasons why this is happening any response would
be very useful as its very frustrating!
Thanks

Is it possible that one or more of your predictor grids is missing data in that area? Maxent requires complete predictor data for each presence locality, so this would also explain why the presences that fall in this area are not included in model training.

I would recommend checking each of the predictor grids carefully. The pattern you describe makes me think it might be something to do with a map projection, so perhaps look at them in ArcMap, with the data frame's coordinate reference system cleared.

Thanks for your reply John.

I have managed to find a way around it. I did all the things you
mentioned with no luck into finding out why it was producing a black
map. The maps I was trying to produced were not square so I think it
might have been something to do with how I clipped it. I got around it
but just doing square maps and clipping them to my study area after in
ArcMap.

Thanks Again
Holly
