Hello,
Back at the annual NCTM meeting in 2008, CLIME, discouraged by the lack of technology support at annual meetings, supported a technology resolution to the Board of Directors to improve this situation. Unfortunately it was dismissed mostly because of the expense. Fast forward to 2012 in Phildelphia home of the annual NCTM conference, CLIME is planning to try again. I just posted a draft of a new resolution in a CLIME blog post that I plan to submit to NCTM.

Please read (http://climeconnections.blogspot.com) and let me know what you think. Your suggestions are most welcome. Since I have to send this in by the end of today, I hope you get a chance to read and respond.

I will be forever grateful.

Best wishes,
Ihor

Hiya Ihor,
I am amazed that you have to write this for a major us conference in a STEM subject.  Anyway i just thot i might add that the Sharing-Ideas-Wifi-Area should have tables of mixed sizes and types - the idea being to share screens with online access (and not be giving free wifi to individuals). So small high tables for persons with netbook, ipads and phones up to say  a 6'x6' sit-on-floor area with 22-28" monitor with cable on a low table that can easily be hooked up to laptop for impromtu demos between participants. Just ideas. Thanks for being so persistent! Linda

Ihor,

Do you have any development on this? Have you talked to any NCTM people who may shed the light on the puzzle? How expensive is it to provide the wi-fi, at least?

Cheers,

Hi Ihor,

The only thing I might add is a recommendation that one presentation 'stream' should be dedicated to blended learning with an emphasis on innovative uses of technologies (Web 2.0, multimedia, mobile devices) which are not generally regarded as 'math tools' in moving towards a more learner-centred, active, and authentic model of math education.
