Saga vs Courier

We are having a debate at work about when to use Sagas vs. Couriers. We have some "operations" that have many steps, think setting up a new machine, that needs to persist process shutdowns. We like the Courier idea because they seem to be much more simple to write than Sagas but we aren't sure of the benefits or downsides to each? Thanks!
