The MBTA/MIT Center for Future Civic Media Hackathon is tomorrow! We
need your help to build great applications with our data – so bring
your ideas and energy!

Tomorrow’s Hackathon starts at noon at the MIT Media Lab AND there
will be free food! Please try to arrive by noon because we will have
a short kickoff program.

For full event details please visit: http://bit.ly/7o1ujF.

Directions: For directions, please use the MIT Campus Map: http://bit.ly/bLgFhI.
The Media Lab is two buildings located at the intersection of Ames St.
and Amherst St., right next to the Kendall T stop. Friday’s session
will be in E15-209 (Wiesner Conference Room) and Saturday will be in
E14-525.

For Friday: Go to E15 and take the elevator or the stairs to the 2nd
floor. When coming out of the elevator/stairwell, take a right towards
a glass door and this display, then take a left. The Wiesner room is
the first big room on your right.

More detailed directions (with pictures) are at the event website:
http://bit.ly/7o1ujF.

Projects that organizers are focused on include:
* Constructing a kit to help business owners set up their own LED
signs displaying when the next bus is coming
* Integrating countdown information with bluetooth-enabled watches
(see this: http://bit.ly/cc09gu)
* Text message interface for retrieving schedule information.
* And, of course, anything you can think up!

These projects will be using data made available on the MassDOT
Developers Page at: http://bit.ly/ibwdY. Specifically, Developers
will be focused on building applications using data from the MassDOT/
MBTA Real-Time XML Trial feed. The trial feed includes data for bus
route 39 which serves Jamaica Plain, the Longwood Medical Area, and
Back Bay in Boston; and bus routes 111, 114, 116, and 117 which serve
Haymarket Station, East Boston, Chelsea, and Revere. For more details
on the real-time XML feed visit: http://bit.ly/1tVMCi.

To see other applications built with MassDOT/MBTA data released on the
Developer’s Page please check out this blog post: http://bit.ly/8GsWnP.
All applications are available at: http://bit.ly/1tVMCi.

Lastly, please spread the word to anyone you think might be
interested!

Thanks you all again for making MassDOT Developers a success. We have
had some amazing results since the Developers Conference and are
hoping to see new innovations this weekend!

See you on Friday and Saturday!
