And here are the details ……

Support the Marys Peak Group – Sierra Club.  The MPG, like all organizations, needs your financial support.  Give thought to what we do for our members and the community, and what we have done for you this past year.  In order to keep our leaders trained and certified, sustain our conservation activities, and conduct our mailings we need financial support.  You can make a contribution to help the MPG in two ways.  First make a direct non-tax deductible donation to the “Marys Peak Group”.  Second, make a tax-deductible contribution to the “Sierra Club Foundation” with a note on the check saying that it is for the Marys Peak Group - 5304. Non-tax deductible contributions can be used for all the MPG activities. The tax-deductible contributions can be used for all MPG activities except political action expenses.  In both cases the donations should be sent to Marys Peak Group, P.O. Box 863, Corvallis, OR 97339.

A Note about our Outings.  Please contact the leader before an outing to let them know you’ll be participating.  If you find you will be unable to attend, please notify the leader.  Also, please arrive at the meeting point a few minutes before the time listed.  We are punctual and depart from the meeting point for the outing at the time listed.  Contact the leader to arrange to meet the group at a point other than the stated start point.  We go rain or shine; only heavy winds or other unusual conditions may cancel an outing.  Please be prepared for the weather.  The suggested driver reimbursement is $2.50 for every hour driven; perhaps more when the roads are difficult or the number of riders is small. This is subject to change with gas price fluctuations.

Friday, November 27th – Walk Off the Tofu (turkey eaters very welcome).   A brisk loop walk on Vineyard Mountain roads from the Lewisburg Saddle in McDonald Forest. Good well-drained gravel roads; pleasant forests; occasional vistas over the Coast Range.  Perhaps a detour down the newly rebuilt Old Growth Trail.  Moderate, 7 miles, with 650 feet of elevation gain.  Meet at the Lewisburg Saddle for a 1:00 p.m. departure.  Contact leaders:  Irene and Armand Schoppy, 541-758-8591 or iame...@yahoo.com

Saturday, November 28th – Dimple Hill.  We'll hike to the top of Dimple Hill on Horse Trail and return on Dan's Trail to make a loop.  Possible view from the top of Dimple Hill.  Moderate/difficult, 8 miles and 1,450 feet of elevation gain.  Meet at the Wilkinson Hall parking lot (Arnold & 27th) for a 10:30 a.m. departure, or ask leader for an alternate meeting time/place.  Contact leader:  Lelia Barlow, lelia...@gmail.com (e-mail preferred); 753-4775.

Friday, December 4th – Lewisburg Saddle to Dimple Hill.  This route is the gentlest way up to Dimple Hill, yet there's enough of a climb to warm us up on a winter's day.  Moderate, 4.8 miles, 545 feet in elevation gain.  Meet at 1:00 p.m. behind the Super 8 Motel, on 1st Street in Corvallis.  Contact leader Leslie Hogan at 924-0130, or qwi...@peak.org

Sunday, December 6th – Sulphur Springs to McCulloch.    We’ll climb up the quickest route to this viewpoint atop McDonald Forest’s highest peak.   If weather cooperates, we’ll have views of the Willamette Valley and foothills, perhaps even the Cascade Peaks draped in new snow.  Back by the same route if weather’s bad, but we may elect to make this a loop if it’s reasonably dry.   A lower hike at Peavy Arboretum if weather’s really bad.  Moderate/difficult, 6-7.8 miles, with 1,700 feet of elevation gain.  Meet at the Wilkinson Hall parking lot (Arnold & 27th) for a 10:00 a.m. departure.  Contact leader:  Bruce Encke & Loretta Rivard, 541-753-6884 or bruce...@hp.com

2010 Sierra Club Calendars.  We offer free delivery with a smile in Corvallis and Albany.  The large wall calendars are $13.00, and the desk engagement book calendars are $14.00.  We are almost out of these, so don’t delay!  Contact Jane Luther at jane...@gmail.com or 758-8279.

Happy Thanksgiving!
