(Apologies for the cross post!)

Hi all,

As most of you know, the annual US-based OpenStreetMap conference will be held in San Francisco June 8 & 9. A lot more planning has taken place since we last sent out anything on this list, so I wanted to share some more details on the conference with you all.

The main State of the Map conference will be two days packed with sessions on OpenStreetMap in use in government, education, and international development, discussion around how to implement and build maps with it, and strategies around advancing and using open geo data. There will be hands on workshops the Friday before the conference covering topics like editing OpenStreetMap data, working with OSM in QGIS, and setting up your own tile server, and a sprint day following the conference.

What you need to know:

  • Registration is open and just $75 if you register before April 26.

  • There's an open call for session proposals. If you're using OpenStreetMap or open data in an interesting way, go submit a proposal.

  • Scholarships are available, along with free admission for volunteers who help with registration and other tasks at the actual conference. If you're local and willing to help, this is a great way to save some cash. Details on both here.

More information about State of the Map is available on the conference website, and follow @sotmus for updates. And feel free to pass this on to anyone else may want to attend!

Feel free to ping me with any questions!

Kathleen

Hey Everyone--

Just bringing this to the top of your inboxes-- in particular I want to remind you to propose sessions! The due date has been pushed back to this Sunday and, let's face it, the DC area has been doing some really killer OSM work over the past year, so I know that a lot of you have great things to share with the community. I've submitted mine and it was a really quick process-- you don't need to have the whole session worked out yet.

Also, you have until 4/30 to take advantage of the early bird pricing, so don't forget to register before prices go up. The other thing I wanted to mention is that WWDC is coming into San Francisco right after us, so you will absolutely want to get your lodgings arranged ASAP.

Finally, I'd like to do a quick roll call-- who from DC is planning to attend? If people are looking to share rooms this is probably a good place to sort that out!

See you in June! (Or sooner...)

Kathleen
