Hi arro,
You have done very good work tracing the buildings, I wish all users
were so detail oriented.
The names, however, are not what I would have called them but that may
just be a difference between Icelandic and the North American
practices. For instance, in the second link you have posted, the
buildings have names that are numbers. It appears that the numbers are
actually the street numbers, correct? Assuming that that is correct
then you should not call the building the same as a street number. The
name section is for a building name and the street number section is
for the street number. If the building did not have a name, only a
street number, then you would include the street number but the name
field would be blank.
Regarding your search issue, I'm not sure that the search would ever
find the exact building on Borgartun. It will probably only give you
the street even if you properly enter the number on the street.
One thing I am curious about is that for some of the buildings the
attribute is Grounds when the polygon clearly outlines only the
building. Those should be changed to Building in the attribute
section. An example of what not to do is the Grand Hotel close by. The
polygon covers more than the building but yet it has the Building
attribute selected. The Grand Hotel polygon, as drawn, should be
Grounds.
Keep up the good work.
