Hi,
When adding or editing roads, How to indicate numbering for each
segment / block, for example, 1200 Whatever Av, 1300 Whatever Av,
and so on. Is this set in the address field?
Then, is this enough to make the system interpolate any address when
searching? For example, 1275 Whatever Av.
Sorry, my English is terrible. if not understood, I will try to
rephrase the question.
Thanks
Gustavo

In normal cases when a street/road already exists with information of
it's name/numbern then it's only needed to write number in address
field. Rest of address is autometically created. E.g. For "123
whatever avenue" will only need 123 to be added into address field of
the feature situated at whatever avenue and road drawn should be named
as whatever avenue. If sub-locality, locality, city, state, country
are drawn then they will autometically phrase themselves in the final
generated address.

Cheers

Should I understand that we will write the house number to address
field when we create a road section? But which house, The house at the
A end or the house at the B end?
I have never written any thing in address field of road section. I
even think that the address field of road section is needless!
When the above question is clear, I will use that field.
Thanks,
Boi

Not in road's address field but the house's address field. Like this example
http://www.google.com/mapmaker?gw=39&hl=en&ll=32.164778,74.200126&spn=0.004886,0.007467&z=17&fid=4116054895721282295:3313250963560817756&dtab=overview&iwloc=0_0
You can clearly see the address in left pan. Through street name is missing as no name has been added till date to the road fronting this business.

So the road's address field is actually needless! And Gustavo's question in original post is still open.

The road itself gives an address and why there is a requirement of address for the road.

What Gustavo and I want to know is whether any means to know house number of houses on a road section. For example, we write house number of the house at one end of the road section and the next section, then we can know the house number between the above two numbers will be somewhere on that road section.

Not really but I would say it doesn't have a main use. A terminal road network inside a; for example; bus station, university or hospital can be addressed for different departments or transit terminals so when the information lines of those will let user know where exactly are they situated and aheading to. Maybe anyone else have another use..

Hmmm that would be a considerable idea but I think address/plot should do the same job that currently don't seem working. I tried to use the feature in G. Magnolia Park, Gujranwala, Pakistan by using a format of 30-50 in address field.

Thank you all for your help.
Nice examples Jabran, never mind about adding only the number to any
facility. This is a good practice considering some road may change
it's name and all the addresses placed will be always up to date. The
different levels in the address are a hierarchical structure.

But this is not exactly my original doubt. In Google Maps, when you
search for an address but there is not a facility there, the system
recognizes that belongs to this block.
Example, searching Sarmiento 542

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=es&geocode=&q=sarmiento+542&sll=-34.604813,-58.378966&sspn=0.010756,0.013497&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Sarmiento+542,+San+Nicol%C3%A1s,+Ciudad+Aut%C3%B3noma+de+Buenos+Aires,+Argentina&ll=-34.604513,-58.374352&spn=0.010756,0.013497&z=16

And if you right click the mouse there and ask "What's there", you
will obtain "Sarmiento 501-599"
Where was this 501-599 setup?

The same in GMM looks like:
http://www.google.com/mapmaker?hl=es&category=Carretera&ctype=289&gw=39&ll=-34.604071,-58.373247&spn=0.00529,0.011737&z=17&iwloc=1_0&fid=10789721791071293355:18439881823883292091
But I think this is a newer addition and does not reflect the 501-599
feature

Thanks Gustavo

I think it was discussed and Map Maker Guide said to add it to Issue Tracker as this feature is not yet available on Map Maker. But I could neither find the post nor if this issue was added into list..

Hi Jabran, many thanks.
You are right, I think this is the post you have referred:
http://groups.google.com/group/google-mapmaker/browse_thread/thread/b479969be9957de8/773d3bf9d376b14f?lnk=gst&q=Street+numbering#773d3bf9d376b14f
I was looking for a while in issue tracker but I've found nothing.
I've created issue 302 with the corresponding backlink references:
http://code.google.com/p/google-mapmaker/issues/detail?id=302
Thanks
Gustavo
