to Map Your World - How do I...?
Hi
i live and work in Philadelphia and since i discovered SketchUp and
Model Builder i have been addicted to this. I am modelling portions of
the inner city here in Philadelphia, and here is my question.
What do i do with row houses in order to get accepted?
Here in Philly we have TONS of attached row homes. In some cases,
these structures stretch from one street to the next, sometimes 20-30
homes, all attached, in a single block. All these structures have
party walls between them.
The front facades of these buildings often are in roughly the same
plane, although there are also often porches, window canopies, stairs,
etc that project out. The rear of these buildings often include full
rooms added on and are almost NEVER within sight of any Street View
imagery, since the area behind these rows of homes is often an alley
or yard areas. A LOT of different planes.
Is it best to make one long box and push/pull as needed? This results
in some tedious (although not without fun) texturing of individual
surfaces. Making individual attached homes is also a little tedious
and obviously would include a whole lot of hidden surfaces.
I understand that GE prefers photo texturing, but in cases like this,
will exceptions be made? Should i pick photos from other places and
sort of extrapolate my idea of what MIGHT be behind these buildings?
Can i just "brick them up" with a texture from the palette?
Thanks for any input you experts can provide!
