Hi
Please see the following link
http://www.google.com/mapmaker?hl=en&fll=8.516419,76.960527&fr=0.000212,0.000215&mpp=0.590581&gw=12&ll=8.515618,76.961702&spn=0.004769,0.006824&t=h&z=18
The added road (left portion of the SH 2) is not available for moderation
It displays a message 'Try Publishing'

When tried for publishing the following message appears.
Cannot serve this request

Can anybody suggest a method.

Regards
CNR Nair

Does "Try Publishing" ever work? It hasn't for me in at least 20+
attempts. The result has always been, "Cannot Serve This Request."

Added to the issue tracker as #310. I used CNR Nair's view as the
source since I haven't encountered it lately myself.

Guys,

We need some more information to figure out what's going wrong here.
Can some of you please post the link for features where 'Try
Publishing' gives a "Cannot serve this request" error?

Thank you!

Jen.

Jen,

Try this one, "Balite 2nd".

http://www.google.com/mapmaker?hl=en&fll=14.202111,120.977068&fr=0.001664,0.001717&mpp=4.631096&gw=55&ll=14.19741,120.978098&spn=0.029872,0.040684&t=h&z=15&iwloc=0_0&editids=umOOBawmxGK8wiYjfD

In my experience over the last 8 months or so every single time it
says "Try Publishing" it has never ever worked. I would find it
stunning if you can't find any yourself or if the ones you find
actually work.

OK, thanks Rich & Gorio for the examples. We're looking into what's
going on.

Cheers,

Jen.

Dear All,

It turns out there's some history with this issue. We introduced this
"Try publishing" option before we had an automated process that
reviewed all edits that couldn't be published (due to their dependence
on other, pending features). We now have such an automated process
running every couple of hours, which renders the "Try publishing"
option pretty much obsolete. In fact, the "Try publishing" option now
only displays in cases where the automated process fails, in which
case the manual publish attempt will also fail.

In the example that Rich posted, the process is hitting a data error,
meaning that some of the data are corrupt and we need to fix those
issues before the feature can be published.

In the example that Gorio posted, there is a dependent edit that needs
to be published first: http://www.google.com/mapmaker?gw=55&editids=umOOBaw9ni_NxC4mCi
Since that dependent edit has been moderated, you'll now be able to
moderate the feature in question.

In summary, you guys are absolutely right that "Try publishing" now
does nothing! Apologies for the confusion & we've queued up an action
item to remove that option.

Cheers,

Jen.
