It *seems* as if there should be some synergy between Google Wave and
the mapping/moderation workflow. If anyone wants to explore this,
maybe we could collaborate.

I believe people in the recent preview were only given 8 "nominations"
to invite others. (I used mine up.)

Google Wave is apparently not giving invitations out immediately to
those who were nominated. I'll leave this topic alone for a while.
Google Wave isn't working all that well anyway.

Hi All,
It seems that many Map Maker users would love to have invites for
Google Wave. As Mohammad Reza has aptly put it, as a 'gift' for avid
mappers, we would like to send out some invites for Google Wave. So,
please add your email id's to this thread and we will send out the
invites as soon as possible. Please note that the invitations take
some time to get processed and you can expect a delay in actually
getting the invite.

Additionally, as you will understand, this gift is limited to
availability and will be extended on a first-come first-served
basis :)

Cheers!

I want to go back to the main topic, that is, how to use Wave in the
moderating workflow, but I guess it should be a separate thread,
either here or in a wave.

Also, I guess we'll first need a "person discovery" process to allow
those using Wave to add collaborators as Wave contacts so they can
talk at all.

Uh oh, looks as if the Wave "folder create" function doesn't work,
which will make organization of threads difficult.

I am already on the wave. But have no idea how to use it for Map maker as I still don't have any MM friends there.

On the first hour, I saw a possibility of inviting 8 more people. I invited 4 and kept the rest in reserve. None of the invited one has received them yet. And now when I check, I do not see a way to use my remaining invites too!

I would like to see some of our MM friends appearing in  my wave spectrum :)

Thanks

Orkitokay!
I found the way to use my remaining invites. (They were only two).

I have given them two two prominent MM'ers here. (Not telling who... did not want to really discrete among us, but had no choice!)

So, may be at last, I may be able to explore the prospects of using wave for GMM.
Shall report the results in due course.

Thanks,
Viswam

The Google Wave Contacts function is frustrating. I put your id
[username at googlewave.com] into the search contacts box and it:
--said you could't be found
--displayed you alone in the Contacts listing and started some process
--after 30 seconds finished and displayed you.

I then blanked the search box and you showed up among my contacts.

If you do get an invitation, and a X...@googlewave.com address, you may
have to add this additional address to your profile in order for it to
show up in the Contacts of others. The Google Wave Help is unclear on
this.

Apparently those who were nominated and got invitations didn't
themselves get the ability to nominate even more people.

Today early morning GMT, it seems that the second realm of wave invitations (whom the first level invitees had nominated) were processed. Two of MMers whom I had sent invitations are yet to be seen on my wave contacts. The others have already reported.

Some of the active map makers  have already started up a little wave. As of now, I can see eight contacts there.

@MMG
I have already got two active Wave Developer Sandbox accounts
requested from khur...@gmail.com a few weeks ago. I doubt they are
same what is being offered via these invitations?
but Google made me a diffrent account as accou...@wavesandbox.com
(not khur...@gmail.com) along with passwords and I can use them on a
specified URL in the email containing the account information (https://
wave.google.com/a/wavesandbox.com)

I can signin with the provided account details on the on wavesandbox
above URL but not on the https://wave.google.com/

I am confused, are they two type of accounts?
do I need any other account?

Hi,
It was nice to see many of you enthusiastic about getting Wave
invites. We are now closing the invite applications. All of those who
have added their id's will be receiving their invite in a few days.

Additionally, this is the latest update from the wave team:
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/surfs-up-wednesday-google-wave-update.html
& the help page that should get you started with waving:
http://www.google.com/support/wave/

@KA - you can still get a wave invite even if you have already
requested a sandbox invite. Please see this help discussion for more
info: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/wave/thread?tid=69d525027befb126&hl=en
However, if you do get invites from the wave team as well as from us,
you can just forward the extra invite to some one else you know and
they will be able to use the link to activate their account :)

Regards,
Map Maker Guide.

Have the mappers that requested wave ids received them? If so, we can
either make the "moderation wave" public or add people to it.

The wave we started is called "Google Map Features Pending Moderation
" if you want to try searching for it.

Hi,
I updated the "Google Map Features Pending Moderation" wave with a
request for moderation.

If anyone has a wave invitation and needs help finding this wave, let
me know.

Since Boi Le and CNR Nair are now visible on Google Wave I assume some
of the others are as well. If you are having problems finding the
"moderation wave," try pinging me at rjhintz at googlewave dot com

Also, I added a rudimentary translation bot to the "Google Map
Features Pending Moderation " wave, which will either make things
easier or confuse everything hopelessly.

Hi,
I trust that everyone should have received their wave invites by now.

@Rich - Have you made the wave 'public' as posted here:
http://www.google.com/support/wave/bin/answer.py?answer=162099&query=make+wave+public&type=
I was not able to search for the "Google Map Features Pending
Moderation" wave.

Additional information about public waving:

Thanks & Regards,
Map Maker Guide.

OK. I have made this wave as public.

Those who want to join in, can find this wave by a search
Search for "with: public mapmaker"

or "with: public map maker moderation"

Thanks

So, all of you who were asking for invitations can presumably now get
access to the moderation wave, but it's pretty quiet. Well, dead,
actually. Did everyone lose interest already?

I have several moderations to be reviewed, if anyone wants to look at
the wave.

I created a new public wave called Google Map Maker Mappers. If you
want to be added and can't find it using search, ping me, send me
mail, twitter, facebook, linkedin, gopher, archie, WAIS, IBM Profs,
rock through window, or any other way that occurs to you.

Resurrecting this thread since there's some thought that USA mappers may be more likely to use Wave for coordination.  Here it is.
