Recently, someone moderated a feature called "SICOGI La Djibi 1",
commenting "Hi, please try and add the full form of 'SICOGI'."
While SICOGI stands for "La Société Ivoirienne de Construction et de
Gestion Immobilière", nobody ever uses the long form of the name since
it is, well, so long. Even their own website (
http://www.sicogi.ci/ )
very rarely mentions the full name.
Many other similar acronyms exist in widespread daily usage in Côte
d'Ivoire.
In my experience, this is not uncommon in much of the world.
Even in the US, the full form of FBI, CIA, FAA, etc. are rarely used.
My suggestion is that, when moderating, unless one is familiar with
the place being moderated, one should not just blindly apply
moderation guidelines such as this.
