How to shorten existing roads?

I know how to extend an existing road:

1. Click the Line tool Line tool.
2. Select Road from the type pull down.
3. Start the extension by placing the first point on the edge of
the existing road.
4. Start drawing the road.
5. Double click to end your drawing.
6. Edit the attributes of the road in the info window.

but how can you shorten an existing road when the road is to long?

extend an road. but how can you make it shorter?

Will deleting the wrongly extended part of the road not work ? Could
you please post a link of the feature that you would like to shorten
so that I may give a contextual reply. You can post a link by going to
that place in mapmaker and right-clicking "Link to this page"(On the
top right corner) and selecting "Copy Link Location"(Firefox) or "Copy
shortcut"(Internet Explorer) and paste it here while you post.

i'm sorry, now it allready works. it was because of some hidden
intersections ;)
