Romania road names.

some other services/users used to use "DJ123" (DJ = County Road),
"DN45" (DN = National Road)
but on the milestones and road boards are only the numbers.

which to use?
as i can see google maps uses only numbers in other countries except
european roads (E12) and motorways

I don't think we have much choice, since using only numbers will
inevitably create confusions. It would have been really nice to have
been given the choice to define the road categories ourselves, or
maybe even road shields with different colors for each road type.

Hi, 

I would suggest if your state's highway department tells a format then you should follow that. No matter whether it is numbers or alphabets or a mix of both.

Dear Andras Barna,

I think the reason why you only see a number on the milestones is that
the milestones have a specific colour for each type of road: red - DN,
yellow - DJ, blue - DC.
I belive it is less confusing to use DJ, DN or DC in front of the road
number. This is the official format used in official documents, too.

yes.. as well as google maps has colors.. and signs for roads

I think it is useful to include DN/DJ for now, it's useful to have the
letters there, it does not create confusion for anyone who is not a
complete retard. I don't think there could be someone who would think
he's on the wrong road when he sees DN12A on his PDA and just 12A on
the milestone.

Also, it is a fairly trivial matter to correct later on with some help
from Google if we want to change standards.

I agree for now.
I observed that we have now a beauty sign [0] for one of the DN's,
probably it's "based" on the name, and i hope well see nice signs for
all kind of roads.
