MACALESTER COLLEGE FALL SAMPLER EXTENDED PROGRAMS - September 27-30, 2012. For more than 18 years Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota has been providing funding to help academically talented students of color participate in their Fall Sampler Extended Programs. The Fall Samplers provide prospective students with the opportunity to tour the campus, attend classes, stay in a residence hall, eat in the dining hall and interact with current students. We may nominate up to THREE (3) African-American, Native-American, Latino, or Asian American students who are currently high school juniors and who would be well-suited to Macalester's academically challenging liberal arts program. To qualify for the travel stipend, students must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents and also unable to visit Macalester for financial reasons. If you would like to be nominated for this opportunity, contact Mr. Robinson in the YPAS Counseling Office for the application forms and nomination information.
LIFEGUARD TRAINING CLASSES - Aquatic Management Corporation and the American Red Cross. May Weekend Classes ($215) on Saturdays and Sundays - May 6, 12, 13, 19, 20. 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Test Out on May 23rd, 6:00 PM until you are finished. You must be at least 15 years old, swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Swim goggles may be used. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs while keeping hands under the armpits, and complete timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds. Fund Your Seat Campaign - The Producers, the parent organization of YPAS, are conducting a fundraiser titled, “Fund Your Seat.” This fundraiser is designed to raise enough money to replace all of the audience seats (dated late 70’s) in the Main Stage Theatre. “Fund Your Seat” provides you the ability to sponsor a seat in the Main Stage Theatre. In doing so, you will get an engraved nameplate attached to the seat you sponsor with your name or a brief tribute.
