Derby 50k

[Mark Long]

The Derby 50k is set for a record year. We have a record number
signed up for the event. It's looking like the weather is going to be
similar to the first Derby, with temps in the 30's for the start but
warming up to the 50's for the high.

I was informed on 11/20 that the veterans vest will not be ready by
race day. Derby veterans please know that you will receive you 5 year
vest via mail or when I see you at an event. Or if I need to, I will
deliver it to your doorstep myself. I apologize in advance for the
delay.

The church ladies are very excited this year with a record crowd
coming to Derby. The spaghetti meal is free for runners. You race
number is your ticket for food. All others will need $6.50 for the
meal. The money is used in the Derby community and the Jones Springs
Methodist Church.

Just wanted to say thanks to Mark and all of the volunteers, church
members, etc., who made the Derby 50k another fantastic MTC event. A

The Derby 50K was my first ultra 5 years ago, the one that got me hooked on ultras for ever.
The Derby 50K is a classic!!

Thank you for the kind words Barbara. I also have to thank the
volunteers that make the event possible. I can not do it by myself.
Obviously the church ladies do a splendid job with the meal. They
brought in almost $800.00 for their efforts.

Thanks for the kind words for us Volunteers, it is always fun to assist.

I got home with an extra blue jacket/vest. It is a Moving Comfort purple or blue vest.

Glad the run turned out so well. I had to go to Rowland right after the race started and I had gottem my pix so I hated missing it. But I got my results off to the running journal later that night after a class reunion. Take a guess on how they'll turn out.

Many thanks to Mark and all the volunteers for another wonderful
Derby race. Thanks also to the church folks and any others who
contributed.

Barbs and I had a great time and it was especially nice to see so
many fine MTC members again.

Thank you Tom and Barbara.  Also, I have to thank the many volunteers that helped.  The event is not possible without them.  And thanks go to the church ladies from Jones Spring church who always prepared such a splendid meal.

 

Congratulations to all the runners for a job well done and to several first time ultra runners.  Results will be posted soon.
