I actually would not doubt those statistics. But one abortion, looks like
Calgary is safer than Toronto, despite our lower average age groupings.
But it didn't take me 10 seconds to see that I would bet that the age
demographics and migration follow it for the most part, other than Calgary
being younger but safer than Toronto.
But there is a pattern for 9/10 of them. Economically depressed or very
expensive and older areas rank lower. My guess is mostly eastern smaller
communities where the kids left for better jobs elsewhere fair better than
where the jobs are, and in places like Saanich BC and the kids moved on as
they didn't have the money to stay there.
I guess the eastern "bums" may have some truth to it.

He was beaten up pretty bad; broken jaw, 3 busted ribs and a broken nose. I
wonder if they got the guy? ;) I suppose not.
Over all, ranking where TO did is about right. The place is pretty peaceful
over all.
Sure beats Abbotsford and Regina!
But statistics can be misleading because PEI showed a murder rate of around
2.1 a few years back, and with a population of 360,000; I still wonder about
that .1!
